“Contre-La-Montre” is the first single from the album Labyrinthe, to be released in March 2026 on Exag’ Records. It explores the urgency of passing time through motorik rhythms, hypnotic guitars, and captivating melodies.
Chaton Laveur builds a bridge between Krautrock and Pop, delivering a bold and immersive composition in the vein of Beak>, SUUNS, or Broadcast.

Bio

In the winding paths of European independent rock, Chaton Laveur forges its own wild and unapologetic route. Born in Liège during the lockdown, this two-headed, two-voiced musical creature — Julie (guitar, bass, vocals) and Pierre (drums, keyboard, vocals) — draws its energy from the depths of 60s–70s German krautrock and the aesthetics of 90s indie rock to create a soundscape that is as hypnotic as it is immersive.

Minimalist yet never simplistic, their music is a journey into raw emotion. Relentless motorik rhythms collide with ethereal shoegaze layers, obsessive loops blend with bittersweet melodies sung in French and Spanish. The duo rejects conventions and easy solutions, favoring experimentation in the service of emotion, and authentic naïveté over production artifices.

After igniting more than 70 stages across France, Germany, the Benelux and the UK — sharing the bill with Stereolab, Corridor, Peter Kernel or Girls in Hawaii — Chaton Laveur returns in 2026 with Labyrinthe, their second album. Recorded at Studio Claudio in Paris with Vincent Hivert and Margaux Bouchaudon (En Attendant Ana), this record is an invitation to lose oneself in a parallel world where time stretches, where repressed emotions find their place, where every loop leads toward unexpected territories.

Labyrinthe explores themes of passing time, the relationship to image, human connection, and the search for self. Between the motorik urgency of “Contre-La-Montre,” the shoegaze layers of “La Source,” inspired by surrealist poet Paul Nougé, and the psychedelic experiments of “Mirada,” the duo proves that there is still something new to be found in today’s indie landscape.

For fans of Beak>, Broadcast, SUUNS, Stereolab or Blonde Redhead, Chaton Laveur is that unexpected encounter between krautrock rigor and pop sensitivity, between hypnotic repetition and luminous melodies. Music that is best experienced live — intense and uncompromising.
